The Dutch Canoe Association is a national society. It is a national sports union, in which Canoe-clubs as well as individual members are joined. The Dutch Canoe Association looks after Canoeing Holland by means of;
  • Keep in touch with the Government, sister associations and Water Control Boards.
  • It takes part in many kinds of deliberation, both on nationwide and regional level, including Broad deliberation on Delta works (BOD). Also with the purpose to keep open, canoe routes and canoeing possibilities.
  • Give advice to water boards, land exchange committees, etc.
  • Organizing canoe competitions in the following disciplines;
  • flat water racing,
  • flat water marathon,
  • white water slalom,
  • white water racing,
  • canoe polo.
  • Organizing acknowledged (by the VWS) education for canoe technical frame.
  • Supporting joined associations and clubs in a direct and indirect way.
The Dutch Canoe Association is connected to
  • International Canoe Federation (I.C.F.),
  • European Canoe Association (E.C.A.),
  • Dutch Olympic Committee (NOC),
  • Dutch Sports Federation (NSF),
  • Employers Organization in Sports.
Furthermore the NKB is supported financially by the Government of Public Health, Well being and Sports as well as through the Foundation of National Sports Pool (SNS).


Branches of Canoe sports
Approximately every branch of canoeing is supported within the NKB.
Every committee takes care of her own discipline, the following committees are active within the NKB;
  • Recreational Touring (BTC)
  • Sea touring (CZEE)
  • Breaker surfing (CBR)
  • Open canoeing (COK)
  • Committee White Water Broad sports (CWWB)
  • Competition Slalom, Racing and Rodeo(BWWC)
  • Flat water (BWCV)

Canoe exhibition


Every year the NKB organizes the biggest European Canoe Exhibition. On this exhibition you can find everything about canoes and accessories. Almost everything is directly purchasable. Next to that there are many demonstrations on branches of the sport and the equipment used. The exhibition usually takes place in march in a town called Nieuwegein (near Utrecht), more information will be on this web site shortly before the event.


Becoming a member of the NKB
You can become an individual member or you can become a member of a canoe club that is a member of the NKB. All members of clubs that are member of the NKB are automatically member of the NKB themselves. When you would like to join in competitions you will need a license which is obtainable through the NKB, there is an extra fee for the license.


What do you get when you join the NKB
You are allowed to join activities organized by the NKB or by the associated clubs. Six times a year you will receive our BI-monthly magazine "Kanosport" which contains important messages for the members and handy tips, tricks and information on all aspects of canoeing.


Furthermore the NKB looks after the interests of canoeing Holland.
